Tottenham Set to Sign Man United Youngster, Sir Alex Ferguson Not a Happy Man

Old Trafford defender White Hart Lane bound?

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is heading for a war with Sir Alex Ferguson over Manchester United starlet Ezekiel Fryers.

The youngster has walked out of Old Trafford at the end of his deal and is expected to join Spurs in the next few days.

Villas-Boas has yet to move in at to White Hart Lane but one of the first calls he takes is now likely to be an angry one from Fergie as Fryers leaves one of the Prem’s big guns for another.

The England youth international, 19, was seen as a future first-teamer by Fergie either at left-back or centre-half.

Sir Alex Ferguson has seen a number of his academy graduates leave in recent months, Paul Pogba and Ravel Morrison leaving for Juventus & West Ham respectively, and it seems that Ezekiel Fryers is next to follow suit. Whilst the Old Trafford boss may well feel he has the high ground after reportedly refusing to give in to financial demands from his teenagers he may equally be angered by the loss of real talent from his Man United squad.

Fryers is certainly considered a player with a bright future and would surely have been a player Ferguson would’ve wanted to keep at the club but it seems that the teenager defender is set for a move to North London.

Though the 19 year old can play at centre back he is certainly more adept at playing at left back and last term made a total of six appearances. Fryers looked comfortable coming on as sub in two Premier League matches and was not out of depth, happily making the jump from reserves to the first team with relatively little fuss.

Indeed perhaps the knowledge that Fryers was likely to leave makes Ferguson’s push for Leighton Baines all the more relevant. The Scot has earmarked a move for the Everton man as a long term replacement for Patrice Evra, who last term was fairly average.

Villas-Boas is known to trust to youth and perhaps this has helped Fryers to make the decision to pursue a move to White Hart Lane. The newly installed Tottenham boss will first look to keep hold of his top talents and Gareth Bale has signed a new deal and perhaps Luka Modric will be convinced that he can achieve his ambitions at the club.
