Tottenham Complete Signing of Man United Defender Ezekiel Fryers: Tribunal Likely to Set £3m Fee

Old Trafford youngster completes White Hart Lane move.

Fryers agrees deal with Spurs but Man United’s compensation fee yet to be set

Manchester United defender Ezekiel Fryers has agreed a four-year deal with Spurs and the club must now settle on a compensation deal.
New Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has ratified the 19-year-old’s deal.

Fryers was out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of June.
They want £4million for the defender, but Tottenham only want to pay half.
Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to let the transfer tribunal make the decision.

Sir Alex Ferguson has seen a number of his academy graduates leave in recent months, Paul Pogba and Ravel Morrison leaving for Juventus & West Ham respectively, and it seems that Ezekiel Fryers is next to follow suit. Whilst the Old Trafford boss may well feel he has the high ground after reportedly refusing to give in to financial demands from his teenagers he may equally be angered by the loss of real talent from his Man United squad.

Fryers is certainly considered a player with a bright future and would surely have been a player Ferguson would’ve wanted to keep at the club but it seems that the teenager defender is set for a move to North London.

Though the 19 year old can play at centre back he is certainly more adept at playing at left back and last term made a total of six appearances. Fryers looked comfortable coming on as sub in two Premier League matches and was not out of depth, happily making the jump from reserves to the first team with relatively little fuss.

Indeed perhaps the knowledge that Fryers was likely to leave makes Ferguson’s push for Leighton Baines all the more relevant. The Scot has earmarked a move for the Everton man as a long term replacement for Patrice Evra, who last term was fairly average.

Andre Villas-Boas has already picked up Gylfi Sigurdsson since his arrival at the North London club and looks set to bring in a number of other targets this summer.

Expect the transfer tribunal to set a fee neatly between the two club’s valuations, somewhere in the region of £3m.
