Arsenal Prepare Bid for £12m Premier League Winger as Theo Walcott Replacement

Emirates Stadium side line up move for young attacker.

ARSENAL are set to hijack Chelsea and Liverpool’s scrap for Victor Moses – if contract rebel Theo Walcott refuses to commit to them long term.

Wigan playmaker Moses, 21, is one of the Premier League’s hottest properties, following a brilliant last campaign when he was central to his team’s miraculous survival.

New Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers has earmarked the Nigerian international as one of his top summer targets, while Moses’ agent says he would prefer a move to Chelsea.

But Wigan have resisted all bids for the player – who is out of contract next summer – and owner Dave Whelan has slapped a £12million price-tag on his head.

Wigan Athletic winger Victor Moses has become a much sought after performer following his efforts towards the tail end of the last campaign and thus far the only bid that has been officially registered was a derisory £4m offer from Chelsea. Latics chairman Dave Whelan doesn’t want to sell the young Nigerian international but an offer of £12m would surely be too tempting to turn down.

Arsenal’s interest apparently hinges on whether Theo Walcott puts pen to paper on a new contract, with the 23 year old having just a year to run on his current deal. There may be fears that the England international will look to follow Robin Van Persie’s lead and formally state his intention to leave the Emirates Stadium club.

If Walcott did indeed leave Gunners boss Wenger could well replace the former Southampton man with players already in his squad. After all the North London club has youngsters Ryo Miyaichi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as well as the more experienced options of Gervinho and indeed Andrei Arshavin, that is if the Russian is part of the Arsenal manager’s plans for the coming season.

£12m seems a steep price to pay for a relatively inexperienced performer, a fee that is more than the fee Wenger paid for German international Lukas Podolski, so one must wonder whether Wenger, who is known for his lack of big spending, would make such an offer for the former Crystal Palace man.
