Chelsea Turn To Marseille Defender Cesar Azpilicueta In Search For New Full-Back

Spaniard back on Chelsea’s radar.

Chelsea will make a renewed approach for Marseilles full-back Cesar Azpilicueta after missing out on Mathieu Debuchy, reports the Metro.

French international Debuchy was wanted by both the Londoners and Newcastle but Alan Pardew’s men look to have won the race for the Lille right-back.

The Stamford Bridge club are ready to turn their attentions back to Azpilicueta who they scouted earlier this summer.

The Spain under-21 international joined Olympique from Osasuna in 2010 and has impressed for the Ligue 1 club with a series of all action displays from right-back.

New Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo is desperate for defensive reinforcements, with Jose Bosingwa released earlier this month and Paulo Ferreira also set to leave this summer.

The Blues have been linked with Inter Milan star Maicon but could miss out on the Brazilian after Real Madrid entered the race for his signature.

Chelsea are now ready to pay £12 million for Azpilicuenta in a bid to finally resolve their defensive issues.
