Manchester City Boss Roberto Mancini Signs New Five-Year Contract

Italian to remain at Etihad.

Roberto Mancini has signed a new five-year contract with Manchester City, ending speculation linking him with the Russian national team job, reports Sky Sports News.

The Italian was reportedly the Russian Football Association’s (RFU) first choice to replace Dick Advocaat who walked out after the country’s disappointing Euro 2012 campaign.

Speculation was mounting that Mancini was preparing to accept the role which would guarantee him a salary of around £7.5 million a year before bonuses.

The 47-year-old former Inter Milan boss further fuelled speculation that he was ready to walk out on the Sky Blues when he avoided the press as City arrived for a pre-season training camp in Austria yesterday.

But the tactician has now committed his future to the club until 2017. Mancini is hugely popular with fans and players alike at City, after guiding the club to their first top flight title since 1967 last season.
