19-year-old wanted by Adkins.
Southampton boss Nigel Adkins is interested in signing Crystal Palace youngster Wilfried Zaha, reports the Sun.
The 19-year-old is one of the hottest properties in the Championship and starred as Palace progressed to the semi-finals of the League Cup last season, beating Manchester United on the way.
Zaha, who is an England under-21 international and has also been included in Stuart Pearce’s Great Britain squad for the Olympics, is being tracked by a host of Premier League clubs but Adkins is ready to move fast to make him his fourth signing of the summer.
Saints have already snapped up Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez for £7 million, with Adkins favouring bringing in talented players from England’s second tier as he prepares for life in the Premier League.
Crystal Palace are desperate to keep Zaha – who predominantly operates as a winger – for at least one more season and will resist any attempts to prise him away from Selhurst Park.
The youngster is interested in playing in the Premier League, however, and may demand a move away from his current employers if Saints make their interest concrete.
