Harry Redknapp Not Keen On Russia Job

‘Arry says no to Russia.

Harry Redknapp is not keen on becoming the new manager of Russia, according to BBC Sport.

The former Spurs boss was included on a 13-man shortlist to replace Dick Advocaat as Russia coach but sources close to Redknapp have suggested he is not interested in the role, despite a salary of approximately £7.5 million per year.

Redknapp, who was sacked by Tottenham last month after guiding the club to two top four finishes in three seasons, is not interested in retirement and is happy to wait for a Premier League opening.

The 65-year-old believes he has one big job left in him but is reluctant to leave his home in Sandbanks on the south coast, so favours a top-flight position in London or the south-east.

The Russia Football Union’s (RFU) extraordinary list also includes former England coach Fabio Capello, ex Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, Rafa Benitez formerly of Liverpool and Marcelo Bielsa of Athletic Bilbao.

Fabio Capello is the current bookies favourite for the job. It is understood that the Italian will seriously consider the approach, with a view to leading Russia to the 2014 World Cup before retiring.
