St James’ Park side want to sign bring former striker back from Anfield.
Liverpool are ready to make a £25m loss on striker Andy Carroll this summer, with former club Newcastle preparing a £10m bid to bring him back to the north east.

Milan have indicated they may be willing to take Carroll on loan but a £10m Newcastle bid to take the player back cannot be ruled out – particularly if Demba Ba triggers the release clause in his own contract at St James’ Park, with Liverpool having a long-standing interest in the Senegal striker.
The appeal of Carroll to Newcastle will not have diminished now that their pursuit of the FC Twente striker Luuk de Jong has fizzled out, with the Dutchman having confirmed Borussia Mönchengladbach as his destination of choice.

It seems that Brendan Rodgers is open to Andy Carroll leaving the club, with a loan move seemingly being the order of the day, would the Anfield boss look to accept permanent offers for the 23 year old and if so would he be tempted an offer of just £10m? Probably not.
A number of attacking targets have been linked with a move to Liverpool, most prominent among them being Italian Fabio Borini and American Clint Demspey. Therefore it would seem plausible that Carroll doesn’t fit into the plans of the newly appointed boss.
Carroll actually showed signs of improvement towards the end of last season and did fairly well at the Euro 2012 finals so it’s a little strange that stories of his potential departure persist, such speculation would have been far more applicable during the truly woeful early performances the England international put in following his move from Newcastle United.
You have to then wonder if Alan Pardew needs Andy Carroll? If the Newcastle United boss manages to keep Senegal international pair Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba then the St James’ Park side would presumably only need a back-up option, so moves to sign FC Twente striker Luuk De Jong give the impression that perhaps a player sale is possible at the North-East club.
One wonders also just how Carroll would be received by the Toon Army faithful if he did indeed make a return to his former club.
