Southampton are considering an £8million move for Crystal Palace striker Wilfried Zaha, 19, and 21-year-old team-mate Nathaniel Clyne.

Saints boss Nigel Adkins may be concerned that his current St Mary’s squad could struggle to keep their heads above water in the top tier after securing back to back promotions back into the top flight and with that in mind a move for this Selhurst Park pair is a wise and cost effective one to consider.

Adkins has already brought in Jay Rodriguez from Burnley and Steven Davis from Rangers but has his eyes on other new arrivals ahead of the new campaign.

Defender Nathaniel Clyne and winger Wilfried Zaha have both been linked with moves away from Crystal Palace for quite some time and have both been linked with a number of Premier League sides but as yet it would appear that Eagles boss Dougie Freedman has either not received sufficient bids for the pair or perhaps have not received and bids at all.

Both players have been capped at England Under 21 level and Zaha reportedly narrowly missed out on selection in Stuart Pearce’s 2012 Olympics Team GB squad.
