Etihad Stadium forward completes permanent switch to White Hart Lane.
Emmanuel Adebayor to seal Tottenham Hotspur move
Tottenham Hotspur have agreed an undisclosed fee to sign Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
City could now be ready to make their first firm move to sign Arsenal’s Robin van Persie once the Togolese striker completes his exit.
Adebayor, 28, scored 18 goals in 37 appearances during a loan spell at Spurs last season.
The striker will become Tottenham’s third summer signing after Jan Vertonghen and Gylfi Sigurdsson.
It is understood City were keen to lower their wage bill before moving for their transfer targets. Adebayor is reported to be one of the club’s biggest earners while Wayne Bridge has left for Brighton.

Tottenham were initially unwilling to meet Emmanuel Adebayor’s £170k a week wages but perhaps having reportedly only paid £5m for the Togo international Daniel Levy feels he can warrant meeting such demands.
Make no mistake signing a player of Adebayor’s obvious talent for just £5m is an absolute bargain. The former Arsenal man was Tottenham’s most effective attacking weapon but as well as scoring goals the 28 year old showed last term that he is also a key provider, laying on 11 assists in Premier League action alone.
Andre Villas-Boas would do well to look for other potential striker signings because at present the North London club are very light on options, with only Jermain Defoe available as a recognised senior striker.
Adebayor is the third signing of the Villas-Boas reign with Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jan Vertonghen also having been snapped up by the North London side this summer.
