Tottenham Turn to Inter Milan Keeper Julio Cesar as Villas-Boas Looks to Sign New Keeper

White Hart Lane boss wants Brazilian custodian.

TOTTENHAM boss Andre Villas-Boas will turn to Inter Milan keeper Julio Cesar if he is unable to complete a deal for Lyon’s Hugo Lloris.

The Portuguese coach is keen to bring in a new stopper this summer, as he is thought to hold similar reservations over current back-ups Heurelho Gomes and Carlo Cudicini to those of former manager Harry Redknapp.

Tottenham had been strongly linked with interest in Lyon and France keeper Hugo Lloris but apparently the asking price was a little too rich so Andre Villas-Boas is looking to hugely experienced Brazilian Julio Cesar to fight Brad Friedel for the starting spot between the sticks at White Hart Lane.

Inter Milan appear to be conducting something of a clear-out with Diego Forlan and Lucio having already left the San Siro and a number of others rumoured to be set to join them in what could turn out to be a mass exodus.

Cesar has been a regular at the club for the past seven seasons, racking up 299 appearances but perhaps given the lean form shown by the Nerazzurri of late would lead the 32 year old to consider his options.

Friedel is now 41 and whilst clearly still competent is obviously not a long term Tottenham prospect and Villas-Boas doesn’t seem to rate Carlo Cudicini or Heurelho Gomes all that highly.
