White Hart Lane’s forgotten man linked with La Liga switch.
Malaga are leading the chase to sign wantaway Spurs midfielder Giovani Dos Santos.
Dos Santos, the Mexico international, has struggled to establish himself at White Hart Lane since arriving from Barcelona, having managed just two league starts over the course of four seasons at the club.
The 23-year-old, who has spent time on loan at Ipswich Town, Galatasaray and Racing Santander during his time at
Tottenham, is expected to leave this summer, and Spanish newspaper AS claim Malaga are the leading candidates to secure his signature.
The La Liga side, who secured qualification to the Champions League for the first time in their history last season, are readying an offer of £4.7m for the winger as they seek to end his White Hart Lane nightmare.
It seems entirely plausible that Andre Villas-Boas will elect to cash in on Mexican international Giovani dos Santos this summer as the newly installed White Hart Lane boss looks to fund moves in the transfer market as he sets about putting his stamp on the Tottenham squad.
Having already sold Niko Kranjcar and Vedran Corluka and released Ryan Nelsen and Louis Saha and seemingly set to sell Steven Pienaar back to Everton, chairman Daniel Levy has then made funds available to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson, Emmanuel Adebayor and Jan Vertonghen.
Luka Modric may well also be on his way out and Andre Villas-Boas will surely be ready to accept Malaga’s offer for Giovani dos Santos dependent on whether the Portuguese boss has plans to use the former Barcelona man.
Harry Redknapp certainly had little interest in using the talented attacker, indeed Giovani has made just two Premier League starts in the four years he has been at the North London club.
The fact that Malaga can offer Giovani Champions League football will surely be an added temptation to the Monterrey born youngster.
