Arsenal Boss Arsene Wenger Eyes £9m Move For Brazilian Star Paulinho

Gunners keen on playmaker.

Arsenal are plotting a move for Brazilian midfielder Paulinho, reports the Times.

The 23-year-old is currently plying his trade in his homeland for Corinthians but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger believes he has what it takes to make a mark on the Premier League next season.

Wenger is preparing a £9 million bid for the star, as he attempts to prove his ambition to unsettled star striker Robin van Persie.

Paulinho joined the Brasileirao title-challengers from Bragantino in 2010  and, after a series of impressive performances, made his Brazil debut in the first leg of the ‘Superclassico de las Americas’ against Argentina in August last year.

The attacking midfielder scored 8 times in 35 appearances for Corinthians last term but injury has ruled him out of future appearances for the nation team.

Wenger is desperate to prove his ambition ahead of the new season after van Persie admitted earlier this month that he would not be renewing his contract at the Emirates.
