Ajax Make Surprise Advance for Blackburn Rovers Defender Scott Dann

Amsterdam side chase Ewood Park centre back.

Sky Sports understands Dutch giants Ajax have made an enquiry for Blackburn Rovers defender Scott Dann.

The Eredivisie champions have enquired about taking Dann on a season-long loan as they look to bolster their squad ahead of next season’s Champions League campaign.

Rovers are resigned to losing powerful central defender Dann before the close of the transfer window following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

A host of Premier League clubs, including West Ham and Southampton, are chasing Dann, but Ajax are hoping to steal a march on their Premier League rivals by tabling a firm offer for the 25-year-old.

Ajax may well need defensive reinforcements given that Jan Vertonghen has left for Tottenham but one wonders just how they came targeting Blackburn Rovers centre back Scott Dann.

The 25 year old Liverpool born defender is highly rated but has managed to find himself in sides relegated from the Premier League in each of the past two campaigns, with Birmingham City and then Blackburn Rovers.

For a Championship player to suddenly be on the radar of a side that is set to partake in the Champions League is odd to say the least but perhaps Ajax boss Frank de Boer, who has guided his side to back to back Eredivisie titles, feels that Dann has the potential to step up a grade.
