Oscar closes in on £25m Chelsea switch after passing medical at Stamford Bridge

Oscar has completed a medical and been granted a work permit as he closes in on a £25million move to Chelsea.

The 20-year-old midfielder will join the European champions after the Olympics from Brazilian side Internacional.

He has been named in his national squad for the Games and is expected to play against Team GB at the Riverside in Middlesbrough on Friday.

CHELSEA will complete a deal for Marseille defender Cesar Azpilicueta in the next 48 hours, according to reports.

The 22-year-old Spain international is currently in London as he prepares for the Olympics.

And it is thought that Chelsea will use the opportunity to open talks with the player and his representatives.

Stamford Bridge boss Roberto Di Matteo has targeted the £7m-rated star as a replacement for Jose Bosingwa, who was released by the Blues earlier this summer.

Some may have thought that when Chelsea secured the Champions League title last term that Blues owner Roman Abramovich may have opted to take his foot off the pedal so to speak. However that has not been the case, not by a long chalk.

Having already spent around £40m to bring Eden Hazard and Marko Marin to Stamford Bridge, the Russian billionaire is set to bring in two more additions to his Chelsea squad.

Chelsea have been pursuing Internacional playmaker Oscar for a few weeks now and the source above believes the deal is complete and a medical passed, meaning the 20 year old is set to become the fourth Brazilian at the club, joining Ramirez, David Luiz and Lucas Piazon.

The youngster, who plays in an advanced central midfield role, has been in excellent form over the past 18 months and has thus become a regular member of the senior national team set-up having previously risen to fame helping Brazil to a Under 20 World Cup triumph.

Pamplona born full-back Carlos Azpilicueta is being brought in to fill the right-back slot at Chelsea, which was shared last term between Jose Bosingwa, who has since been released, and Branislav Ivanovic, who is perhaps more effective in his more often used position of centre back.

The 22 year old Spaniard has spent the last two seasons at Marseille, bar a lengthy spell out with a knee ligament injury, and is on the fringes of Vicente del Bosque’s national team selection. Azpilicueta was part of both the Spanish Under 19 and Under 21 sides that clinched European Championship successes in 2007 and 2011 but has arguably still to deliver on his obvious potential. Roberto Di Matteo will hope he does so at Chelsea.
