Croatian not keen on US trip.
Luka Modric will refuse to join his Tottenham teammates on the club’s pre-season tour of the USA because he wants to join Real Madrid.
The Tottenham squad are due to leave for the States this Saturday for a training camp and a series of friendlies, starting with a clash against David Beckham’s LA Galaxy next Tuesday.
But Modric has no desire to take part and has told Spurs he wants his future sorted before the weekend, reports Spanish newspaper AS.
Modric has been long-linked with a mega-bucks £35 million deal to Real Madrid but the Spanish Champions are yet to make Spurs an acceptable offer.
New Tottenham head-coach Andre Villas-Boas admitted last week that the Croatian schemer would leave for the right price but Real are reluctant to pay over £25 million plus veteran defender Ricardo Carvalho – an offer Spurs deem unacceptable.
Modric was denied a move away from White Hart Lane last summer when Chelsea came calling and was unable to play in the north Londoners first two games of the season, with then boss Harry Redknapp claiming he wasn’t prepared mentally.
A similar stand-off appears to be developing at the club this year and Chairman Daniel Levy will not look kindly on the 26-year-old if he refuses to honour his contract and join Spurs on tour.
