Chelsea Ready to Offload Six as Blues Plan Clear-Out to Cover Cost of Spending Spree

Stamford Bridge set for busy summer.

FLORENT MALOUDA has been told he can leave Chelsea.

And the Champions League winner is unlikely to be the only one heading for the exit after boss Roberto Di Matteo told his squad they are playing for their futures on their tour.

The 32-year-old wants a move to South America because wife Florencia is Brazilian, and wants to go back to her homeland.

Yossi Benayoun and Gael Kakuta also have question marks hanging over them.

Several youngsters are set to be sent out on loan, unless they convince Di Matteo pre-season that they are good enough to be part of his first-team squad.

Striker Romelu Lukaku, midfielder Josh McEachran and new signing Kevin De Bruyne have all been warned that decisions on their immediate futures will be taken when Chelsea return home in 10 days.

Having spent a healthy sum to bring in Eden Hazard and Marko Marin and with a number of other targets said to be on Roman Abramovich’s Blues radar it makes a great deal of sense to conduct a clear-out.

Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou and Jose Bosingwa have all of course left the club on completion of their contracts but it appears that the West London side, who do have an expansive squad, are ready to trim more from their playing staff.

Of the six named by this source there are those who are perhaps not likely to trouble the first team and those who are perhaps something of a surprise inclusion.

Florent Malouda has found himself becoming something of a bit-part player and may well be ready to leave in order retain regular first team football opportunities. Israeli Yossi Benayoun did well on loan at Arsenal last season but may struggle to fight his way into Di Matteo’s plans. The same could be said for Gael Kakuta, who last term was sent out to Dijon where he impressed many.

Young pair Romelu Lukaku and Josh McEachran would greatly benefit from loan spells in order to gain experience and it seems unlikely Chelsea would sell either player outright given the obvious potential both possess.

Perhaps the strangest name on this list is Kevin De Bruyne. The young Belgian signed for Chelsea in January and was immediately loaned back to Racing Genk to complete the last campaign but now it appears he may not be needed, not least because Messrs Hazard and Marin occupy similar spots to the one he would ideally like to fill.
