Tottenham Hotspur Among Suitors Chasing Roma Striker Marco Borriello

Spurs eye Italian.

Tottenham Hotspur are thought to be among a number of clubs to have expressed an interest in Roma striker Marco Borriello, according to Football Italia.

The 30-year-old is not part of Zdenek Zeman’s plans at the Stadio Olimpico and has been placed on the transfer list.

Borriello spent the last six months of the season on loan at Juventus but the Serie A winners decided against pursuing a deal for the Italian.

It looks increasingly likely that the former Milan forward will now move abroad, with Bundesliga giants Werder Bremen and Turkish club Galatasaray also said to be interested in his services.

Spurs are in desperate need of striking reinforcements, with Jermain Defoe currently the only senior striker on the North London club’s books.

A permanent deal for Manchester City’s Emmanuel Adebayor, who spent last season on loan at White Hart Lane, appears to have hit a snag over the Togo striker’s wage demands, making a cut-price deal for Boriello an attractive proposition for new head-coach Andre Villas-Boas.
