Liverpool Plot £7.5m Move for Barcelona Youngster

Anfield side line up move for Nou Camp starlet.

Gerard, meet Gerrard: Kop chase Barca kid

Nou Camp side want to loan young striker out but Reds are pondering permanent £7.5m deal

Barcelona youngster Gerard Deulofeu is on the radars of Liverpool and QPR.

Liverpool have shown an interest in taking the Spain Under-19 striker on a permanent deal, while QPR are studying the possibility of a loan move.

New Barca boss Tito Vilanova is still undecided on Deulofeu’s future but is leaning towards loaning him to give him a chance of progressing with first-team football.

The Catalan giants would demand around £7.5million if they were to sell the player, who has interested Chelsea in the past.

Spanish Under 19 international Gerard Deulofeu is considered one of the hottest prospects coming through Barcelona’s ranks and it’s highly unlikely that new Nou Camp boss Tito Vilanova would be about to consider offers for the young attacker so it is perhaps more likely that loan deals could be a possible option for the teenager, who could struggle to secure first team football at the Catalan giants this coming season.

Though the 18 year old has already tasted first team football action with Barcelona, there are a number of players, both experienced and youthful, ahead of Deulofeu in the Nou Camp pecking order and a season long loan deal offer from Liverpool is far more likely to bear fruit than an out and out purchase.

Brendan Rodgers is a manager who is not afraid to give youth a chance and could well do with alternative attacking options to beef up those available to him in his Anfield squad.

Having already signed Italian Fabio Borini, and with England man Andy Carroll said to be available to sign for the right price, the new Liverpool boss is clearly looking to make significant changes to the squad he inherited from Kenny Dalglish.

There is a paucity of options in the final third and adaptable youngter Deulofeu, who can play as either a forward or out on the flank, could be a useful option to turn to.
