QPR & Newcastle United Leading The Chase For Tottenham Bit-Part Player Danny Rose

QPR and Newcastle are both interested in signing Tottenham left-sider Danny Rose.

The 22-year-old is currently on Olympic duty with Team GB but will seek showdown talks with new Spurs head-coach Andre Villas-Boas after the Games.

Rose has found first-team chances limited at White Hart Lane, making just 9 Premier League starts in the past two seasons under former boss Harry Redknapp.

The ex-Leeds United star had agreed in principle to join QPR on a season-long loan last month but Redknapp’s departure led to the move being cancelled by the north Londoners, giving Villas-Boas a chance to assess Rose.

The Hoops have since signed Manchester United left-back Fabio but retain an interest in Rose, who can also play left wing and centre midfield.

Newcastle are also monitoring the situation and, like QPR, will consider a bid to sign Rose permanently, rather than on loan.

It is thought that the Team GB star, who started on the left-wing as Stuart Pearce’s side lost 2-0 to Brazil on Friday, will tell Villas-Boas that he is not happy playing a bit-part role in north London and the Portuguese tactician is likely to allow him to leave N17.

Spurs have Benoit Assou-Ekotto at left-back, while new signing Jan Vertonghen can also provide cover at full-back.

Spurs value Rose at around £5 million.
