Robin Van Persie Rumour Roundup: Juventus Leading The Race For The Arsenal Skipper

Roberto Mancini furious at Manchester City’s board, as Juventus close in on flying Dutchman.

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini fears the Premier League Champions will miss out on Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.

The Dutchman wants to leave the Emirates this summer, with City, Manchester United and Serie A giants Juventus all interested in his signature.

Italian tactician Mancini has become frustrated with his superiors for stalling on a move for the 28-year-old, with City’s board intent on offloading Emmanuel Adebayor and Carlos Tevez – who interest Tottenham and AC Milan respectively – before making a concrete bid for the Dutch goal-machine.

Indeed, Mancini has had a major bust-up with City’s board over their failure to land van Persie.

His main gripe is with City’s football administrator, Brian Marwood, who is concerned that a move for the Dutchman will contravene the new Financial Fair Play rules, particularly if they fail to offload the likes of Adebayor, Tevez, Roque Santa Cruz and Edin Dzeko first.

Juventus are willing to offer the former Feyenoord striker £190,000 a week after tax and are neck and neck with Manchester United in the race for the signature.

Alternatively, the Italians are firm favourites to sign van Persie, with the Arsenal captain understood to be attracted by the prospect of playing in the Serie A.

The Old Lady will make slightly improved offer for van Persie this week and are expected to make him their best payed player in the club’s illustrious history.

Arsenal would prefer to sell to the Italians but will not consider an offer below £20 million for the striker, who scored 30 Premier League goals last season.
