So will this lead to QPR boss Mark Hughes looking to offer the midfielder a contract? Well there is no doubting that when fully fit the former England international is certainly able to make an impact in the Premier League, the problem is of course that the former Bayern Munich and Man United man is so very rarely free of injuries.

The 31 year old spent almost all of his four years at Old Trafford on the sidelines and when the Canadian born midfielder was offered a contract by local rivals Man City it seemed clear what would happen next.

Whilst Hargreaves only suffered niggling knocks at the Etihad Stadium he was still some way off the pace in football terms and Roberto Mancini didn’t trust the player enough to hand him anything more than one 13 minute Premier League sub appearance.

Perhaps Hughes will offer the midfielder a deal if he impresses during training, after all this is the side that employs Kieran Dyer.
