Loftus Road side look to hijack Tottenham move for South African midfielder.
Italian source Tutto Mercato is today reporting that QPR are looking to steal Steven Pienaar from under Everton’s noses. The experienced South African international was seemingly destined to move back to Goodison Park after a failed spell at White Hart Lane but apparently Mark Hughes is looking to lure the 30 year old to Loftus Road.
Pienaar moved to Tottenham 18 months ago but has struggled to make an impact and spent half of last term back at Everton where his performances helped in the club’s revival over the last months of the campaign.
A move back to Everton seemed on the cards but ambitious West London side QPR appear to have other ideas and can perhaps offer the former Ajax man an increased salary offer and the chance to remain in the capital.
Hughes has already done some great business during this transfer window, bringing in quality additions which include Robert Green, Junior Hoilett, Andy Johnson and Ji-Sung Park.
It might take some persuading to tempt Pienaar away from a return to an Everton side he clearly has an affinity with but if the flair player believes QPR have more to offer than the cash strapped Toffees then perhaps a deal to move to join the Super Hoops is not beyond the realms of possibility.
