QPR Prepare Offer for £5m Man United Striker Dimitar Berbatov

Loftus Road look to land third Old Trafford capture of the summer.

Queens Park Rangers are preparing an offer for Dimitar Berbatov as they continue the comprehensive revamp of a squad that evaded relegation narrowly last season. Manchester United have valued the former Bulgaria forward at £5million after taking up the option in February to extend his contract by one season until next summer. Berbatov, 31, has indicated that he wants to leave Old Trafford for regular first-team opportunities.

Mark Hughes may well be looking to improve QPR’s attacking options and to that end has snapped up Andy Johnson on a free transfer after his Fulham contract came to an end and now the Welshman is looking to bring in Dimitar Berbatov and co-owner Tony Fernandes is ready to back the Super Hoops boss by making funds readily available to make an offer for the Bulgarian

Though Berbatov has struggled to secure a regular spot in Ferguson’s first team picture the talented forward is actually in the best goal-scoring form of his career, notching up 28 goals in his last 44 Premier League appearances.

The Man United man has fallen behind Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck in the striking pecking order and may well welcome a return to London and the promise of a better chance of regular first team football. QPR have already brought in some top notch signings this summer and are clearly looking to greatly improve on last term’s relegation threatened campaign.

Hughes has a number of strikers in his squad but of those in his armoury very few have made a positive impact. Speculation is rife that the the QPR boss will look to offload DJ Campbell, Rob Hulse, Heidar Helguson and Jay Bothroyd as the former Man City manager looks to put his own stamp on the squad he inherited from Neil Warnock in January.

Mark Hughes has already brought in Park-Ji Sung on a permanent basis and Fabio on a loan deal so who would rule out a third Man United capture of the summer.
