Tottenham & Arsenal Target Hints That He Is Likely To Remain In France

French international focussed on the new season.

Tottenham target Hugo Lloris has dropped the biggest hint yet that he wants to stay at Lyon.

The ‘keeper has been linked with a £16 million move to White Hart Lane, with Spurs bitter rivals Arsenal also said to be interested.

The chase turned personal earlier this month when Spurs accused Arsenal of only enquiring about Lloris to bump up his transfer fee.

But the French international, who is captain of his country, appears focussed on the coming Ligue 1 season with Lyon, and has identified big-spening PSG as the side to beat.

“Aside from us, I would say PSG [are among the favourites for the title],” Lloris told FourFourTwo.

“They are a talented team. They have spent a lot of money and have some very good players. The pressure will really be on them to prove they are the best.”

The Parisiens are the firm favourites for the title after bringing in Ezequiel Lavezzi, Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic but Lloris believes this will only make the French top-flight more competitive.

“This is modern football,” he added. “All the great clubs buy the best players.

“I think it will make all the clubs in Ligue 1 better. It will also bring a lot of attention to our championship around the world and that is a good thing. I look forward to playing them.”

Spurs are in need of a new custodian and have also been linked with Inter Milan stopper Julio Cesar.

The north London outfit currently have ageing stars Brad Friedel and Carlo Cudicini on their books, plus the erratic Heurelho Gomes but new boss Andre Villas-Boas is not convinced that any is a viable long-term solution between the sticks.
