White Hart Lane side keen on Ligue 1 enforcer.
Yann M’Vila ‘eyed for Spurs transfer’ after Arsenal end interest
Yann M’Vila has emerged as a transfer target for Spurs, after Arsenal ended their interest in the Rennes midfielder.
The France international was expected to move to the Emirates Stadium this summer, but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger decided against pursuing his interest after rumours the player had been disruptive during Euro 2012.
However, M’Vila could still be on his way to London before the beginning of the new season.
Spurs are now the club most interested in signing the 22-year-old and a £9.5 million offer is being prepared, reports Le 10 Sport.
Arsenal have long been linked with interest in Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila but for whatever reason, be it wage demands or the price-tag placed on the French international by the Ligue 1 side, a deal was not forthcoming. Now Tottenham are apparently interested in the young enforcer.
Andre Villas-Boas is looking to bring in further additions to his White Hart Lane squad having already nabbed Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jan Vertonghen, but one wonders if the club’s midfield is in need of such an addition.
Tottenham already have battlers in the form of Scott Parker and young Brazilian international Sandro so there seems less of a need to bring in a player like M’Vila than the obvious need to bring in a striker or two given that the North London club has just one recognised senior forward, Jermain Defoe.
Arsenal may well re-enter the market for a defensive midfielder and Arsene Wenger may well be playing a waiting game as he sees if Rennes or M’Vila change their stance as the transfer window moves closer to completion.
