Liverpool Close In On Deal to Sign Real Madrid Midfielder Nuri Sahin On Loan Deal

Anfield side lead chase for Turkish international.

Liverpool could pip Spurs to Sahin as Rodgers’ relationship with Mourinho may help seal loan deal for Madrid midfielder

Liverpool have joined the race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin.

And Brendan Rodgers’ close relationship with Jose Mourinho could give the Anfield club an edge over Arsenal and Tottenham in negotiations.

Spanish newspaper Marca says Liverpool want to take the Turkey international on a season-long loan, which could suit all parties.

Brendan Rodgers is a very well respected manager and clearly a coach who has connections and this may well help Liverpool to pull off what would be an extremely intelligent signing.

Nuri Sahin has struggled to get Jose Mourinho’s attention, with the Turkish international seemingly drowning in the sea of talent in the Real Madrid squad. There has been a great deal of talk about a possible loan move to the Premier League and if Rodgers can use his connections with the former Chelsea boss to land the 23 year old midfielder then it could greatly aid the Merseyside club’s push for a spot back in the top four.

The former Borussia Dortmund man has barely figured since his move to the La Liga giants a year ago and there is a danger of the playmaker stagnating and Mourinho knows that it’s key for any player to secure regular first team football.

Liverpool could well do with an injection of creativity in their midfield, the likes of Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam failed to make a great impact in their first seasons at the club and though Steven Gerrard impressed at the Euro 2012 finals he is clearly not the same player he was three or four years ago.

Sahin would offer a very real goal-threat as well as the ability to help create chances for those ahead of him. Liverpool dearly need a player of this type, hence Brendan Rodgers making a push, an unsuccessful one, for Gylfi Sigurdsson who in the end opted to move to Tottenham.

Also a loan move for the Real Madrid man is a cost effective option that the club’s American owners would certainly agree with.
