Newcastle United to Launch Ambitious £10m Bid for Dutch International Pair

St James’ Park side look to bring in Ajax duo.

Newcastle United are to launch a £10m bid for Ajax pair Vurnon Anita and Gregory van der Wiel according to a Daily Mirror report.

Last summer Alan Pardew worked wonders to improve his St James’ Park side and the Magpies boss is looking to bring in some similarly good quality additions this time around so as to help his side build on Newcastle United’s terrific top five finish.

Pardew’s interest in Ajax right-back Van der Wiel may well be a back up plan as Newcastle United continue to track Lille defender Mathieu Debuchy as a replacement for seemingly exit bound Danny Simpson.

The 24 year old Dutch international is a quality defender and has already amassed almost 200 appearances for his Amsterdam club, helping Frank De Boer’s side to back to back Eredivisie titles. Van der Wiel is also a regular at international level with 35 caps to his name.

Anita is perhaps a more likely capture and the adaptable 23 year old may well be amenable to a move to the North-East if indeed De Boer elects to sell the 23 year old.

Ajax have already seen Jan Vertonghen leave for Tottenham and Mounir El Hamoudi has left for Fiorentina.
