Kightly set for Stoke switch after £2m fee is agreed with Wolves for winger

Stoke are set to complete the signing of winger Michael Kightly from Wolves after the two clubs agreed on a £2million fee.
Kightly, 26, starred as Wolves won promotion to the Premier League in the 2008-09 season, but he was dogged by injuries during the club’s three-year stint in the top flight.

Wolves may face an uphill struggle to keep their star performers this summer but perhaps by offloading Michael Kightly to Stoke City the Molineux side has a better chance of balancing the books without having to cover the cost of relegation by selling star turns like Steven Fletcher or Matt Jarvis.

Kightly did well to adapt at Wolves following his move to non-league Grays but has struggled with injuries and form over the past few years but an instant return to the top tier may well help to re-ignite the 26 year old’s career.

Tony Pulis has been fairly quiet during the current transfer window, the only Potters signing coming in the form of Rangers youngster Jamie Ness. Stoke City have on the other hand released and offloaded a number of senior players including Ricardo Fuller, Salif Diao, Jonathan Woodgate and Danny Collins.
