Arsenal & Liverpool Target Nuri Sahin Turns Down Besiktas After Setting Sights On Premier League

Sahin holding out for Premier League switch.

Arsenal and Liverpool target Nuri Sahin has rejected a move to his native Turkey with Besiktas.

The Real Madrid midfielder has been told he can leave the Bernenbeu this summer and has been linked with a season-long loan switch to Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Real boss Jose Mourinho is keen to offload Sahin to make way for Tottenham’s Luka Modric and tried to use the 23-year-old as bait to land the Croatian schemer but it is understood that Spurs head-coach Andre Villas-Boas is not interested in Sahin.

Arsenal and Liverpool now lead the chase for the former Borussia Dortmund star, who has refused a return to Turkey to join Super Lig outfit Besiktas according to Spanish ‘paper AS.

Both clubs want Sahin on loan but it is understood that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is eyeing a permanent deal for the midfield maestro.

It is thought that Sahin is resigned to leaving the Spanish capital – despite claiming last month that it was ‘like a dream’ playing for Real. The Turkish international wants to join a Champions League club, giving Arsenal and United the edge in the race for his signature.
