Man United Line Up £25m Bid for Brazilian Playmaker Ganso

Old Trafford boss switches attention from one Brazilian to another.

Having failed to complete a deal to sign Sao Paulo midfielder Lucas Moura, who has now completed his move to PSG, Sir Alex Ferguson is set re-ignite his interest in fellow Brazilian Ganso. The Old Trafford boss is readying a £25m for the Santos man and will hope that a contract dispute between the 22 year old and his club will help aid his pursuit of the playmaker.

The young rangy midfielder has been a player Ferguson has tracked for some time and his inability to sign Lucas has left the Scot still looking for an addition to his Man United squad that he feels he must bring in ahead of the coming campaign.

Sir Alex Ferguson is concerned about the lack of effective attack minded central midfield options in his armoury and had hoped that lengthy talks to land Lucas Moura would bear fruit but is now ready to make an approach for Ganso

Ganso is seemingly bound for Europe having fallen out with his club over a new deal with his agent, Delcir Sonda, telling Radio Estadao ESPN: “This is definitive; Ganso won’t play for Santos anymore.” This statement is sure to have alerted a number of prospective suitors looking to make the most of the situation.

Man United’s current midfield options are fairly threadbare, so much so that the return from retirement of Paul Scholes was gratefully received by Ferguson. Micheal Carrick had a fairly good season but the 31 year old is not a player who can be relied upon for a prolific assist or goal tally.

Darren Fletcher is yet to make a recovery from illness, Tom Cleverley has had injury concerns but should welcome the new season fighting fit. Brazilian Anderson has been a disappointment over the past two seasons, so much so that he has been considered as a makeweight in various deals to bring in new additions and the former FC Porto man is certainly in need of a good season to get his Man United career back on track.

Ganso offers a great deal going forward and is certainly no slouch in the tackling department. The powerfully built midfielder has notched up over 100 appearances for Santos, bagging 35 goals in the process and is now a regular in Mano Menezes’s Brazilian national team set-up.
