Manchester City Hand Trial To Promising Olympic Youngster

UAE starlet to train with Champions.

Manchester City have handed a trial to UAE youngster Omar Abdulrahman after the youngster impressed at the Olympic Games.

The 20-year-old currently plays for Emirati Champions Al Ain but will spend a week training with City ahead of a potential move.

Abdulrahman enjoyed a stunning Games, assisting both UAE’s goals in their opening match against Uruguay and standing out in their second group game against Team GB, as they again slipped to defeat.

Indeed, Team GB and City defender Micah Richards said after the match: “The number 15 (Abdulrahman) is a very good player who plays beautiful football. He’ll be one of those players we should keep an eye on in the future.”

Abdulrahman took to twitter to break the news of his trial with the Champions, stating on Monday: “Today I’ll travel to Manchester for a training .. wish me good luck,” before adding that it was City who he would be joining.

The midfielder already has 12 caps for senior UAE team but his trial at Man City will raised questions as to whether he has been identified by boss Roberto Mancini or the club’s Middle-Eastern owners.
