Fulham make move for Celtic forward Hooper as Jol looks to boost strikerforce
Fulham have made a move for Celtic striker Gary Hooper. The 24-year-old played for Celtic on Wednesday as goals from Joe Ledley and Georgios Samaras sealed a 2-0 win over HJK Helsinki which saw them progress 4-1 on aggregate to the Champions League play-off round.

Southampton have already registered their interest in Celtic striker Gary Hooper, with this source claiming that a £7m bid from the Saints was turned down. Therefore it would presumably take an increased bid from Fulham to have any hope of tempting the Glasgow side from selling their main attacking threat.
The 24 year old former Scunthorpe United man has netted an impressive 51 goals from 83 starts since his £2.4m move to Scotland two years ago and Neil Lennon would be loathed to lose the forward but may well face a tough task of repelling Premier League offers for the Celtic man.
Fulham lost Andy Johnson to QPR and for some reason opted to not pursue Russian international Pavel Pogrebynak after his successful loan spell at the club last term. Though Martin Jol has brought in Mladen Petric and Hugo Rodallega on free transfers this summer it seems the Craven Cottage boss still feels he needs further options and Hooper may well feel he has what it takes to convert SPL form to life in the Premier League and could therefore push for an exit if a bid is lodged.
