Man City Target Brazilian Ace as Strike Pair Look Set for Bundesliga Switch

Etihad Stadium boss wants Olympic marksman.

Manchester City poised to hijack Tottenham bid for Brazil star Damiao

Manchester City have checked on Brazil striker and Spurs target Leandro Damiao, 23.
Spurs are considering resurrecting their attempts to sign long-term target Damiao.
They continue to be frustrated in their move to sign City striker Emmanuel Adebayor on a permanent deal.

Meanwhile, Werder Bremen are interested in City striker Roque Santa Cruz, 30.

And Wolfsburg are keen to re-sign Edin Dzeko, 26, from City and may offer defender Simon Kjaer, 23, as part of the bid.

Roberto Mancini has been linked with a number of potential striking additions but plans to do so would appear to have to depend on the Italian’s ability to offload one, or two, of the many strikers he currently has on his books. The Man City boss will be more than aware that UEFA’s FFP (Financial Fair Play) guidelines will prevent his ability to stock up on players he has no intention of playing.

Leandro Damiao has been a Tottenham target for some months now but Andre Villas-Boas could see all that ground work go up in smoke if the Premier League title holders register their interest. Clearly a move to a side with a Champions League berth would be preferable to the 23 year old, and the earning potential as Man City clearly eclipses that of a move to White Hart Lane.

The Brazilian will have impressed watching scouts whilst on Olympic duty, netting six goals to help his nation to the final of the tournament. The Internacional man has a fine record at club level to, scoring 70 goals in 115 appearances and a move to Europe is on the cards.

As for those on their way out at Man City, well Roque Santa Cruz has been away on loan at Real Betis for a season and is surely not likely to play again for the Premier League side so a move to Werder Bremen will surely interest the Paraguayan.

Bosnian Edin Dzeko impressed last term but doesn’t appear to be part of Roberto Mancini’s plans so a return to the Bundesliga could help to re-ignite the 26 year old’s career.
