Sir Alex Ferguson Says Football Has ‘Gone Mad’ After Lucas Moura Completes £35m PSG Switch

Fergie amazed by Lucas deal.

Sir Alex Ferguson says ‘the game’s gone mad’ after Manchester United missed out on the signing of Lucas Moura – who has joined PSG for £35m.

The Scot admitted last month that he was trying to sign the Sao Paulo winger but refused to offer more than £27m for the 19-year-old.

Lucas, who is set to feature for Brazil in Friday’s Gold Medal Match at the Olympics, will join PSG in January on a four-and-a-half year deal.

“To tell everyone that PSG this year have signed Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic,” said United boss Ferguson. “They must have spent about £150m in the last month.

“When somebody’s paying 45 million euros (£35m) for a 19-year-old boy you have to say the game’s gone mad. I find it quite amazing.”

The Qatari-backed Parisiens have also added Napoli’s Ezequiel Lavezzi to their squad and retain an interest in signing Tottenham’s Luka Modric, who Spurs value at around £40m.
