Roberto Mancini Furious At Manchester City Transfer Drought

Italian unhappy with football administrator Brian Marwood for lack of signings.

Roberto Mancini has been left fuming by Manchester City’s failure in the transfer market this summer and lays the blame at the door of the club’s football administrator, Brian Marwood.

City are the only side in the Premier League not to sign a single player this summer, despite being linked with moves for Robin van Persie, Daniel Agger, Daniele De Rossi and Edinson Cavani.

The Eastlands outfit lost out to Chelsea in their pursuit of Eden Hazard and boss Mancini has made no secret of his frustration at City’s impotency in the market.

“I am not happy but I won’t say anything at the moment,” he is quotes as saying by ESPN. “For this you should talk to Brian Marwood.”

The Champions have also been left frustrated by their failure to sell any of their unwanted players like Emmanuel Adebayor, Roque Santa Cruz and Nigel de Jong.

All three, particularly Adebayor, are on hefty wage packets and footabll administrator Marwood reportedly wants to reduce the wage bill and raise funds before sanctioning any new signings.

“I don’t know what I should say in this situation because after three months [no one has been signed],” added Mancini.

And after a summer that has seen Chelsea and Arsenal strengthen heavily and Manchester United make some astute signings, the Italian stressed that City must keep improving.

“I think we have a good team but it is impossible that after two years you did everything well. You need to continue to improve in every way.”
