Sneijder wants compatriot at San Siro.Wesley Sneijder has told Inter Milan it is imperative they sign Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong.
De Jong has 12 months remaining on his current deal at Eastlands and has been told he can leave City this summer, with the Champions eyeing Roma’s Daniele De Rossi as a direct replacement.
The combative enforcer has been linked with Bayern Munich, Roma and Inter’s rivals AC but Sneijder believes it’s crucial that the Nerazzurri sign his Netherlands teammate.
“Inter must sign De Jong,” Sneidjer told the Daily Mail. “He’s football mad. I know him well and he would be fit in here.”
Inter boss Andrea Stramaccioni is reportedly keen on a loan deal for the 27-year-old but City are adamant that he must leave permanently or not at all.
Sneidjer added: “De Jong is bravissimo. I’ve known him for seven years, we have grown together and I can assure you that he is crazy – in a good way – for football.
“If a match is at half-eight in the evening, he wakes up at eight in the morning and spends the whole day thinking only about how to win and give his best.
“On the pitch he always plays with heart and if he came to (Inter) Milan it would be a pleasure for me.”
