North Londoners eye enforcer.
Tottenham and Arsenal target Yann M’Vila has edged closer to a move to the Premier League after Rennes confirmed they had received a ‘concrete offer’ for the 22-year-old.
M’Vila has long been admired by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and was understood to be close to a move to the Emirates last month, before a row with his French teammates at Euro 2012 prompted the Gunners’ boss to rethink the move.
Arsenal’s north London rivals Spurs are the latest club to express an interest in M’Vila and are thought to be keen to sign the £9.5m-rated star as a replacement for the outbound Luka Modric.
And now Rennes chairman Frederic de Saint-Serni, confirmed that an offer is on the table.: “He has a concrete offer from England,” said Saint-Serni, following Rennes 1-0 defeat to Lyon on Saturday.
M’Vila played the full 90 minutes but Lyon were without goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, fuelling reports that he could also be set to join Spurs.
“I am happy. I’m not complaining and I’m playing. As long as I’m at Rennes, I will be available to the manager,” said M’Vila, according to the Metro.
“I’m not getting worked up over that [transfer speculation]. I could very well spend one more season [at Rennes].”
Real Madrid’s move for Modric has stalled, with Spurs holding out for £40m but new head-coach Andre Villas-Boas will be without Scott Parker for the first two months of the season, which may have forced the Portuguese to seriously consider M’Vila.
