DONE DEAL: Newcastle Agree £6.2m Deal to Sign Ajax Utility Man Vurnon Anita

Toon set to sign Dutch international.

Newcastle have agreed to sign Dutch international Vurnon Anita from Ajax, reports Sky Sports.

The Magpies have struggled to land several of their top transfer targets this summer but look to have finally bagged Anita, who boss Alan Pardew has been tracking for some time.

The 23-year-old utility man can play at both left-back and in midfielder and will make a farewell appearance for Ajax in Sunday’s clash with AZ Alkmaar.

The deal is reportedly set to cost the Toon in the region of £6.2m, but Anita is yet to finalise terms with the north east outfit.

He is likely to fly to England on monday ahead of a medical and completion of the move.

Newcastle remain interested in Lille right-back Mathieu Debuchy and Liverpool striker Andy Carroll but Pardew has admitted he is happy to start the season with what he has and any more business is likely to be conducted late in the month.
