Man City Launch Bid for £28m Everton & Swansea City Pair

Etihad Stadium boss ready to start spending.

Manchester City are ready to launch a bid for Jack Rodwell.

Roberto Mancini has been a big admirer of the Everton starlet since seeing him destroy his side in a crucial Premier League game in 2010.

Mancini was also impressed with the man-marking job that Rodwell did on David Silva when Everton visited the Etihad last season.

The Toffees value their young England midfielder at £20million, despite his recent injury problems.

City are looking to recruit young domestic players in a bid to comply with Premier League regulations, and want Rodwell and Swansea winger Scott Sinclair to bolster their squad.

Roberto Mancini has been ominously quiet in this transfer window, indeed Man City are the only Premier League club yet to buy a player this summer. However the Italian is very keen to address this issue and has set his sights on two English players that he hopes to sign before the end of the month.

Young Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell has long been linked with a Goodison Park exit and in many ways it’s a surprise that the 21 year old has been retained by David Moyes, such has been the clamour for his signature over the past five years since he made his Toffees debut.

Mancini may well be looking to plan for the future as in his current set-up the England international may struggle to secure regular first team football, such is the quality of the Man City squad that the battling midfielder could even struggle for a spot on the bench but is clearly a player with a bright future, bright enough for the Etihad Stadium side to meet Everton’s £20m valuation?

Man City have also targeted Swansea City attacker Scott Sinclair, who has adapted to life in the top tier by moving into a new role at the Liberty Stadium. The Bath born 23 year old played as an orthodox striker to help Brendan Rodgers secure promotion to the top tier, in a season where the former Chelsea man netted 27 goals.

Last term he was used more commonly in a wide role where he excelled and forced his way into Stuart Pearce’s Olympic Team GB squad. This source believes a bid in the region of £8m is on the cards as Mancini looks to beef up his squad ahead of the new season.
