QPR Look to Continue Spending Spree With Double Tottenham Raid

Loftus Road side target White Hart Lane pair.

QPR boss Mark Hughes is targeting William Gallas as he steps up his search for a new central defender.

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas will allow the Frenchman to leave as he puts his stamp on White Hart Lane.

‘Sparky’ Hughes is continuing his own rebuilding job, and sees the 34-year-old adding vital experience to his back four.

Fulham boss Martin Jol is keen to sign Tottenham winger David Bentley.

The former England international, 27, is anxious to get back to playing regularly and kick-start his career after a lengthy lay-off because of a knee injury suffered while on loan at West Ham last season.

Tottenham may be willing to loan him out or sell, with QPR also interested.

Mark Hughes has had a busy transfer window thus far, bringing in a raft of quality signings as he looks to improve a squad that last term almost got themselves relegated. The additions of Robert Green, Andy Johnson, Junior Hoilett, Ji-Sung Park, Ryan Nelsen and Samba Diakate have already been made this summer and now the West London club are looking to pull off an ambitious double White Hart Lane swoop.

The arrival of Jan Vertonghen from Ajax may well hamper William Gallas’s hopes for regular first team football next term, not least because French defender Younes Kaboul emerged as a crucial member of the North London side’s defence and this duo may well form the pairing that Andre Villas-Boas looks to field next term.

The former Chelsea and Arsenal veteran may well be tempted by a move to QPR as it would offer the 34 year old a much better chance of securing first team football and wouldn’t require a great deal of upheaval.

David Bentley would similarly benefit from a move to Loftus Road having stagnated at Tottenham in recent years. The England international has found it hard to live up to the big money move he made from Blackburn Rovers and Villas-Boas seems even less likely to hand the winger a spot in his starting eleven than his predecessor Harry Redknapp.

Villas-Boas may well be keen to offload some of his squad players to help fund any further additions this summer. To that end Daniel Levy has already recouped fees for outgoing Tottenham men Vedran Corluka, Niko Kranjcar and Steven Pienaar.
