Kolo Toure Gives Away Community Shield Medal After Suffering the Shame Of Falling Behind Stefan Savic In Man City Pecking Order

Etihad Stadium defender angered by snub.

Kolo Toure has been involved in a angry bust-up with Roberto Mancini over being snubbed in Manchester City’s Community Shield win.

The 31-year-old defender exchanged words with the City boss after giving his medal to Villa Park fans in frustration at being left on the bench.

Some fans posted images on Twitter last night with what they claimed had been Toure’s medal.

The Ivory Coast centre-half, consoled by brother Yaya, had already been put out by Mancini’s decision to start the match with young Montenegrin defender Stefan Savic ahead of him.

To be fair you can hardly blame Kolo Toure for being shamed by the fact that sub-standard defender Stefan Savic is ahead of him in the defensive pecking order and given that a Community Shield medal, especially one won from the bench, is hardly the most sought after item one can see why the Ivory Coast international would look to make such a point.

It’s one thing to lose your spot in the first team picture because during your lengthy drugs ban Joleon Lescott and Vincent Kompany form a rock solid central defensive partner, that one could take. However Kolo Toure simply could not sit idly by and watch clumsy Montenegrin Savic partake in a first team encounter whilst he sat on the bench during Man City’s encounter with Chelsea.

Expect the former Arsenal man to have played his last game for the club. Unfortunately Man City fans will probably see Savic in action a few more times before it becomes abundantly clear he is abysmal.
