Holloway rubbishes loan rumours.
Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has confirmed that QPR misfit Joey Barton will not be joining the Tangerines on loan for the coming season.
One-time England international Barton has been linked with a surprise move to both League Two Fleetwood Town and their rivals Blackpool.
The 29-year-old faces a twelve match suspension, after a violent clash with several Manchester City players on the final day of last season.
The Hoops are reportedly keen to find a loan club for Barton in the Football League to speed up their serving of his ban but Holloway has dismissed suggestions that he is interested in the controversial Liverpudlian.
“I haven’t got a clue where the Joey Barton rumours came from,” Holloway told the Blackpool Gazette.
“I can’t sign someone who I couldn’t pick for 12 matches. If you look at the central midfield players I have, that’s not the area I need players. I need strikers.
“Joey’s a great lad but I don’t know where that talk came from.”
