Tottenham Unlikely To Sign Yann M’Vila, As French Star Holds Out For Champions League Move

Enforcer wants Champions League football next term.

Tottenham’s hopes of landing Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila have been dealt a blow by the news that the midfielder will only leave the Lige 1 outfit for Champions League football.

The 22-year-old French international has been linked with a move to the Premier League all summer, with first Arsenal and now Spurs thought to be coveting the combative midfielder.

Spurs were reportedly preparing a £15m bid for M’Vila after learning that England anchor Scott Parker faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after an operation on an injured achilles.

But the Lilywhites hopes have been scuppered by the news that M’Vila will only leave Rennes for a club playing in Europe’s elite competion.

BBC journalist David Ornstein broke the news on twitter after allegedly speaking to the France international’s representatives.

Despite finishing fourth in the Premier League last season, Spurs missed out on a place in the Champions League after fifth-placed Chelsea won the competition.
