Arsenal Boss Arsene Wenger Dismisses Reports Linking Alex Song With Barcelona

Gunners boss rules out Song switch.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has told Barcelona to forget about signing enforcer Alex Song.

The Catalans are keen on the £15m-rated Cameroonian, with Song admitting on Monday that he was flattered to be linked with the La Liga giants but happy at Arsenal.

Barca boss Tito Vilanova is desperate for a new defensive midfielder, after releasing Seydou Keita in June.

But Wenger insists that the 24-year-old is going nowhere this summer.

“There’s nothing going on with Song. There’s nothing in that,” Wenger is quoted as saying by the Metro.

“Song has three years’ contract, he’s not in the same situation as Robin Van Persie.

“In Spain the newspapers are not really serious. We’ve had the experience of that. We’ve never had any contact with anybody from Barcelona.”

Song has three years remaining on his current deal at the Emirates and Wenger is thought to be keen to make him one of the club’s top earners by increasing his salary to around £65,000-a-week.
