Barcelona Want Me, Claims Arsenal Midfielder Alex Song

Song admits interest from Catalonia but says he’s happy at Arsenal.

Arsenal midfielder Alex Song says he is wanted by Barcelona but is happy to remain at Arsenal.

The Cameroonian has been the subject of intense speculation linking him with a move to the Nou Camp this summer, with Barca boss Tito Vilanova desperate for a new enforcer after releasing Seydou Keita.

The Gunners are reportedly prepared to sell Song, 24, for the right price – believed to be around £15m – and replace him with Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin, who is keen on a season-long loan switch to the Emirates.

Song, whose contract lasts until 2015, was quoted by the Daily Mirror as saying: “Barcelona are the best team in the world and there will always be speculation until the window closes.

“I am not going to lie, there is interest, but I am at Arsenal and I am happy at Arsenal.”

Barca and Spain centre-half Gerard Pique said last week that he would welcome Song’s arrival at the Nou Camp.
