Liverpool Line Up Bid to Sign Barcelona & Real Madrid Pair

Anfield set sights on La Liga duo.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is set to step up his bid to bring in his third signing in Barcelona’s Cristian Tello.

The 21-year-old Spain youth international is out of contract at the end of next season and has been targeted by several clubs, including Valencia and Benfica.

Rodgers would have to pay around £7million to land the winger, who can operate on either flank in an attacking front three, taking his summer spending spree beyond the £30m mark following the arrivals of Fabio Borini and Joe Allen.
But it is understood the new Kop boss would be interested in a season-long loan deal with an option for a permanent contract.

Brendan Rodgers is setting the bar high with attempts to land this La Liga pair and perhaps the Liverpool boss has a good shot at securing both players who could greatly improve the Anfield side’s attacking options.

Both Nuri Sahin and Cristian Tello have a point to prove and may feel that a move to join the Merseyside club offers them the best opportunity to secure regular first team football whilst joining a side that is adopting a youthful ethos to their transfer dealings as Rodgers looks to plan for the long term.

Barcelona attacker Tello has a year to run on his contract and has surprisingly not even been handed a squad number by new boss Tito Vilanova, which is clearly a sign that the youngster is not part of his first team plans. Last term under Pep Guardiola the Spanish Under 21 international performed well and did not look out of his depth, netting seven goals in 22 appearances, of which only five were starts.

Big things were expected of Turkish international Nuri Sahin when he left Borussia Dortmund for Real Madrid but the 23 year old’s first season at the Bernabeu turned out to be a damp squib and he was unable to fight past the mountain of talent to secure a regular spot in Jose Mourinho’s plans, making just four La Liga appearances.

If Rodgers could add one, or both, of these youngster to the additions he has already made, Joe Allen and Fabio Borini from Swansea City and Roma respectively, then he will have done well. Having already offloaded Dirk Kuyt, Maxi Rodriguez, Crait Bellamy and Alberto Aquilani it’s clear that the Northern Irishman has been making way for further additions.
