Chelsea are aiming to take their summer spending past the £100m barrier by signing Hulk, Victor Moses and Cesar Azpilicueta.

Chelsea have been chasing Hulk, Moses and Azpilicueta all summer, but have stepped up negotiations with their respective clubs over the past few days.

While Chelsea are no closer to matching Porto’s £40m valuation, they are optimistic a fee of around £32m will be agreed, especially as the Brazil international has told the Portuguese club he wants to leave.

Standard Sport revealed last month that Chelsea were increasing their bid for Wigan winger Moses and were set to buy Marseille right-back Azpilicueta.

Both players are expected to move to Stamford Bridge for fees in the region of £9m each, although they will only pay £6m up front for Moses.

Chelsea have already spent over £60m to sign Eden and Thorgan Hazard, Marko Marin and Oscar but Roman Abramovich is clearly intent on flexing his financial muscle still further and the Blues owner has been looking to secure deals to sign this trio for some weeks now.

Whilst FC Porto have stuck to their guns with their valuation of striker Hulk the Portuguese side may well find themselves more amenable to a reduced fee the nearer we get to the end of the transfer window. If they fail to agree a deal to sell the Brazilian they may well end up stuck with an unhappy player come September 1st.

The West London side clearly see the 26 year old as the ideal man to replace Didier Drogba and the powerful forward may well prove a big success in the Premier League and £32m may well be sufficient to convince FC Porto to sell up.

Wigan Athletic are also proving a tough nut to crack. The Latics are standing by their initial valuation of Victor Moses and though Chelsea have twice increased their bids for the Nigerian winger they may well need to up their offer once again in order to finally sign the youngster.

One does wonder where the 21 year old attacker will fit into the club’s plans but perhaps Chelsea see the potential Moses possesses and are planning for the future rather than for the now.

A move for Marseille right back Cesar Azpilicueta is however certainly for the present as Chelsea look to desperately fill the right back hole that was left by Jose Bosingwa’s departure. Branislav Ivanovic is a stop-gap in the role and after his red card in the Community Shield, which won’t result in a Premier League ban, it seems all the more urgent to finally bring in an out and out full-back.
