Anfield side keen on Craven Cottage star.
Liverpool are reportedly set to make an offer of £7.5m for Fulham attacker Clint Dempsey. The American international has today been fined for apparently refused to play for the West London club as he pushes for a Craven Cottage exit.
Fulham boss Martin Jol has stated that up until now no bid had been forthcoming for the 29 year old Texan but Liverpool are now ready to make a move for the United States international as Brendan Rodgers looks to bring in further attacking options this summer.
Dempsey netted 23 goals in all competitions last term but has steadfastly refused to sign a new contract and has just a year to run on his current deal which has left Fulham having to decide on whether to cash in on the former New England Revolution man during the transfer window to avoid the possibility of losing him for nothing in a year’s time.
Rodgers has already brought in Fabio Borini to boost his attack but has made it patently clear that England international Andy Carroll is not likely to be part of his first team plans and as such is looking to land the experienced Fulham forward and will hope that an opening offer of £7.5m will lure the Cottagers into agreeing to sell Dempsey.
Clint Dempsey has made 224 appearances for Fulham since he moved to the club in a £1.5m deal in January 2007 and has netted 60 goals for Fulham in the process.
