West Brom have doubts over Jonas Olsson and James Morrison after both picked up knocks while on international duty.

Shane Long is fit but new recruit Markus Rosenberg lacks match fitness and Graham Dorrans is unavailable.

Liverpool’s Fabio Borini is set to make his Premier League debut for the club after impressing in pre-season.

Fellow summer signing Joe Allen is also expected to feature, despite only signing last week, while Joe Cole has overcome a recent hamstring injury.(BBC Sport)

Steve Clarke’s first game in charge of the Baggies sees the Scot go up against the club he formerly worked for as Kenny Dalglish’s assistant and that fact could well add another edge to an opening match that will see Brendan Rodgers look to start his Liverpool reign with a win.

The Northern Irishman has rung the changes since he took over at Anfield, offloading a number of the old guard and bringing in new faces in the form of Fabio Borini and Joe Allen. He will bring a new style of play that should be pleasing to the eye but Liverpool fans will hope there is substance to go with that style as they look to the former Swansea City boss to bring an end to a lean period in the club’s history.

A trip to the Hawthorns is never easy but Liverpool do have a good record playing West Brom on their own patch, winning five of their last six encounters away from home and we can see them continuing that run today.

West Brom 0-2 Liverpool
